TARA MCLAUGHLIN, CPDT, CDBC, owner and instructor of GoodDog! Training, has trained dogs for over 28 years. Tara provides private in-home behavioral consultations and training lessons for dogs of all ages, specializing in helping owners get off to the best start with their puppies. She is a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT) through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers(CCPDT). The CCPDT is an international testing and certification program for professional pet dog trainers whose program is based on humane training practices and the latest scientific knowledge related to dog training. Competence and continued growth in training practices is promoted through the recertification of qualified professionals. Tara is a professional member of The Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT.) Tara is also a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant (CDBC) and Certified Member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC.) She participates in the Human-Animal Mutualism/Therapy Animal Consulting division of the IAABC and is a Therapy Animal Consultant (TAC.) Tara has developed and implemented several Therapy Dog programs in the Charlottesville area. She is a licensed evaluator for the Delta Society Pet Partners Therapy Dog organization, and is a registered Delta Society Pet Partner with Sattva, her German Shepherd Dog. Tara and Sattva are also a registered Reading Assistance Education Dogs ® Team with the R.E.A.D.® program of Intermountain Therapy Animals. Tara is also an Approved AKC's Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) Evaluator.
Prior to launching GoodDog! Training, Tara was founder, co-owner and training director of Canine Campus, in Earlysville, VA. She also was the lead trainer for the start up of the Save Our Shelters/Pen Pals shelter dog/prison program at the Fluvanna Women's Correction Center. Tara shares her home with her husband of 30 years, a German Shepherd Dog, 2 Yorkshire Terriers, a Standard Poodle, and 2 cats. . . all living happily together in a peaceable kingdom
